Iranian short ‘Mandatory’ among Italian fest finalists

The 2020 Rieti and Sabina Film Festival in Italy selects ‘Mandatory’ as finalist.

Iranian short film ‘Mandatory’ has been screened and named as a finalist of the 2020 Rieti and Sabina Film Festival (RSFF) in Italy.

Written and directed by Mohammad-Javad Khoursha, the short title narrates the story of a soldier in firing squad who has been caught in a dilemma.

Between morality and work responsibility, he does not know which one to pick.

Soheil Karamyar, Soheil Qannadan, Armin Boshrouyeh and Fatemeh Radmanesh are among the cast members of the flick.

The short film has participated in a number of film festivals, including the 6th TweetFest Film Festival in the UK, the 2020 Visioni Corte Film Festival in Italy, the 2020 Ojai Film Festival in the US, the 2020 Charlotte Film Festival, the 6th Burien Film Festival in the US and the 2020 Vancouver Island Short Film Festival in Canada.

The three-day RSFF provides a space for the audience and filmmakers (ranging from amateurs to professionals) to connect.

According to the festival’s official website, “it aims to give a chance to disclose to the audience Talents, Authors, Actors, Directors, and Filmmakers with the purpose of creating synergies between Film Professionals and new Talents”.

The event was held on November 25.
